The experience that I got from the pre-Cana course was that communication is the biggest thing that most couples need and that we need at the core of our relationship. It’s good knowing that him and I already have that great communication skills to where we don’t argue and we don’t look at things negatively. We see eye to eye on things, and if we feel that we’re going to come up with a disagreement we always pull each other to the side and talk about the conversation with kindness and gentleness and openness with our ears and not talking over one another.
I will say that this experience is helpful because him and I linked hands for each conversation and had the 60 seconds of silent prayer, and then when we talked about things, the emotions between him and I were just so real. To know and see the emotion and the tears flowing from both of us about the things that we already know we feel from another, was great. But to enter it in the Grace that we do during each one with opening prayer and him and I both reading a Bible verse, was just something so beautiful.
I really hope that each couple that goes through this knows that this truly is a sacrament that I believe needs these types of things because without this knowledge you know your partner loves you but when you get to see the real raw emotion between you and him, it’s a lot different the way that it makes you feel internally because it’s just so much better and more committed. – Samantha
As a cradle Catholic and entering into this beautiful Sacrament of Marriage, this course really opened up my eyes to some things and conversations that got us both very emotional. Talking about topics such as NFP, our parents and future children for me got me emotional because all those things are so important and sacred. My fiancé Samantha has been such a blessing in my life and walking through this process with her has been nothing short of amazing and easy.
