I found this experience to be helpful! As the two of us are bit older (in our mid to late 30s) we have lived long enough to be set in our own ways. Because of this I think we both had a good idea of what we wanted out of marriage and had previously touched on all of the provided topics, however, I felt this gave us a great format to sit back down and really delve in to how we felt and how we want to approach our lives together. This also allowed us to really reflect on how compatible and like-minded we are which only reinforced our feelings of love and excitement for our upcoming wedding. I would say to other couples that even if you think you have already discussed everything, you likely haven’t gone to the depth or dedicated this much time to talking about each individual topic and there will be surprises! I believe it truly can make your relationship stronger. – Elizabeth
This experience was valuable because it opened up our minds to topics that we haven’t necessarily done a deep dive into. It was helpful to share our answers to each of the questions and discuss these topics in great detail with one another. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Elizabeth’s love for and appreciation of me and hearing her opinion on why we have and will have a successful relationship. This is useful in preparing for the sacrament of marriage because we discussed how God will play a role in our own relationship as well as how we will raise our children. As far as what I would say to other couples—don’t rush through this, it is a great experience and opportunity to learn more about your loved one. – Dominic
