I thought this experience was very eye-opening. Some of these conversations happen in passing, if at all, so it was really helpful to be prompted to sit down and have these open conversations. I really liked that the course encouraged us to get in a comfortable setting, hold hands, pray and really talk. I’ve actually already sent some of these questions to my married friends to encourage them to have these same conversations. Although some of these were difficult to talk about, it’s really important to get together and see what page each of us is on so we know which topics might be a challenge in the future and which we are already on the same page about.
None of these topics should come as a surprise to couples but they are not always openly discussed in depth before marriage. I learned that there will be ups and downs, challenges, and disagreements on certain topics throughout our lifetime and that’s okay. What is important is how we get through it together and that both opinions matter. – Jenna
Even though some of the questions were redundant, I understand why they were asked multiple times. Marriage is a long-term commitment and issues / topics that were discussed through this course often get overlooked. It’s a free, safe space to discuss how you feel and what you wish to accomplish together as a married couple. – Jacob
